About the Internship:

The Schumacher Center for a New Economics is currently seeking an intern to support our Community Land Trust Program. The Community Land Trust Intern will focus on organizing and building the community land trust program pages on the Schumacher Center's website so that they are easier to access and have up-to-date materials. The program intern will also support the work of the volunteer boards of directors of the Berkshire Community Land Trust (BCLT) and the Community Land Trust in the Southern Berkshires (CLTSB).


Key responsibilities of this position include:

• Update the online directory of CLTs in North America and around the world, which includes adding new CLTs and expanding information on current entries. The Schumacher Center's CLT Directory appears to be the only comprehensive list publicly available.
• Update the CLT resource pages online.
• Update legal documents with special emphasis on the organizing documents of the newly approved 501(c)(2).
• With the help of Schumacher Center staff, streamline the online annotated toolkit of CLT legal documents to facilitate replication in other areas.
• Work with the boards of directors of CLTSB and BCLT to organize and facilitate board meetings.
• Clean and build the Mailchimp database for CLTSB and BCLT.
• Research and help write grant applications to support outreach for the two organizations.
• With the help of CLTSB and BCLT boards, create e-newsletters to send out to members.
• Handle inquiries from press both through email and arranging visits with CLTSB and BCLT board members.
• Develop new brochures and ad campaigns.


Qualified candidates must have:

• A current U.S. Driver’s License and the use of a car.
• Excellent writing and presentation skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Familiarity with public relations and a high comfort-level with interviews and public speaking.
• Ability to self-motivate and work independently.
• A passion for local economies and community land trusts.
• Prior experience with web-editing and design preferred.

Housing in a 4 bedroom shared home near the Schumacher Center's office and Library is available. This internship begins on June 1st and will be supported by Rachel Moriarty, Operations Director and Susan Witt, Executive Director. The Community Land Trust Intern will work 32 hours per week and will receive a stipend of $100 a week.
