Walking Mountains Science Center is seeking a dynamic individual to help supervise and train the organization's seasonal Naturalist Interns, and to move its early childhood environmental educational programming forward.

Position Overview: The Community Programs Coordinator (Early Childhood) has an important role in training and supervising the organization’s seasonal Naturalist interns. They are responsible for the organization’s early childhood environmental education programs, including instruction and coordination of programming. They also oversee the Walking Mountains Science Center Exhibit Hall and campus-based programs.

Compensation and Benefits:
● Compensation Range: $32,000-$37,000 annual salary depending on experience

Qualifications:
● BA/BS in science, interpretation, education, or an environmental science-related field
● At least 1-2 years of field experience in environmental education and/or interpretation
● At least 1-2 years of field experience with early childhood education
● At least 1 year of supervisory experience
● Excellent public speaking skills and willingness to present to a variety of audiences
● Self-motivated and works well independently and within a team
● General knowledge of the natural and cultural resources of the Rocky Mountains
● Specialized knowledge or interest in a natural science field preferred
● Walking Mountains Science Center hires positive, energetic, friendly people
● Preferred: current Wilderness First Responder certification
● Preferred: Fluent in Spanish language
● Preferred: Certification through National Association for Interpretation
● Ability to work a full time, flexible schedule with variable hours and occasional evening and/or weekend responsibilities
