Chewonki is hiring a Waypoint Educator to begin in the fall of 2019. The Chewonki Waypoint Program draws on Chewonki’s outdoor education experience and facilities across Maine, to provide participants from local school district RSU1 with opportunities for outdoor learning, ongoing mentorship, civic responsibility, an expanding worldview, and focused preparation for life after high school.
In the fall of 2019, the Waypoint educator’s primary duties include connecting with local school district RSU1 administrators, faculty, staff, students, families, and stakeholders in preparation for recruiting 7th-grade students. Starting in January of 2020, the educator will begin to implement programming with a cohort of up to 20 students. These activities require regular cohort meetings and weekend and summer excursions. The educator on-boards a new cohort of 20 students in years 2-3 and continues working with these students in a 6-year progression. Please see www.waypoint.chewonki.org for more information about the Waypoint program at Chewonki.
