Summary: SWGLA seeks a new director to continue and expand its work in educating producers and consumers and advocating for grassfed meat production in the southwestern United States. The part-time position will require a flexible time commitment, to average approximately 15-20 hours per week. The director will have experience in and passion for the ranching industry, excellent oral and written communication skills, a demonstrated ability to interact with both ranchers and consumers, and a desire to travel throughout the region. Compensation will depend on experience.
Communications: Regularly post items to the website and Facebook page of interest to consumers and producers. Advertise events and handle registration. Collaborate with outside designers as needed to develop website and printed materials.
Advocacy: Meet privately and speak publicly with business and political leaders, conduct workshops, and work to promote the interests of grassfed production in the Southwest.
Membership: Review and update membership rosters; remind members of renewal. Field inquiries from members and prospective members.
Events: Seek funding opportunities and write grant proposals (often in collaboration with other non-profits, such as the Quivira Coalition and Holistic Management International) for workshops and other events aimed at educating producers and consumers of grassfed products. Organize two to four such events a year with the help of the Board members and participating non-profits. Be a spokesperson for our mission.
