The Howard L. McKee Ecology Residency is designed to provide space and time for transformative ecological thought. The program aims to foster a supportive environment for reflection, study, and collaboration, to encourage creative problem solving by thinkers across disciplines and outside of the confines of academic and institutional settings. The residency is offered to one applicant per year, for up to 3.5 months in fall 2017 or spring 2018. Learn more about this program at

Selected applicants receive private living accommodations and a separate working space free of charge at the Sitka Center. While at Sitka residents are given uninterrupted time to focus on research and writing projects; outcomes are self directed. Residents are also asked to participate in occasional community events and a community outreach activity during their stay. Apply online at
