The English teacher collaboratively develops curriculum and planning for Maine Coast Semester’s hallmark English course, Literature and the Land, with fellow English teachers. In keeping with the thrust of the semester school’s focus on place-based, experiential education, the ideal candidate for this position can connect our region (Maine/New England) to the study of diverse American literary traditions, as well as make connections between the themes of the texts studied with students’ experiences in the natural world. Moreover, we seek candidates who utilize an array of experiential and student-centered instructional strategies that promote both rigorous intellectual thinking and meaningful engagement.
