Fellows are emerging leaders that spend a year of their lives delivering the resources that young people need to be successful in life by providing out-of-school-time opportunities for youth in grades 6-12 focused on college and career exploration and academic enrichment. During a year of AmeriCorps service, Fellows serve full-time for eleven months with non-profit organizations, schools, and state and local agencies throughout the Commonwealth. Fellows engage in monthly team building and training activities as a cohort. Trainings are focused on youth development, social justice and identity, and supporting youth in out-of-school time settings. Since 1999, over 400 Fellows have mobilized community activity in a variety of ways, including:

-Designing and leading out-of-school time programs focused on academic enrichment
-Delivering college and career exploration curricula for young people
-Creating meaningful relationships with youth
-Recruiting and managing volunteers

-Experience working with young people
-Excellent organizational and communication skills
-The ability to work independently and as part of a team
-Passionate about social justice and working with diverse communities
-An interest in and commitment to national and community service
-Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
-Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills
-Professional and mature
-17 years of age or older
-Must be a US Citizen, US National or Permanent Resident Alien
-Must be willing to comply with a criminal background check and FBI fingerprint check

For an eleven-month full-time commitment and 1700 hours of AmeriCorps service Fellows receive:

-A taxable living allowance of $15,500/year
-Excellent training opportunities
-FREE courses at Northeastern University in the College of Professional Studies & discounted courses upon successfully completing the service year
-Loan forbearance and a $6,095 educational award
-Monthly travel allowance
-Career coaching and support
-Healthcare reimbursement
