Counselors are responsible for guiding children ages 8 to 13 through daily farm, cooking, craft, swimming and gardening activities during each 10-day camp session. Counselors work diligently with small groups of campers and occasional CITs, rotating through various activities adhering to a time-sensitive schedule. The counselors usually work from 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, but may be asked to do some longer hours to complete some additional tasks. The camp sessions are Monday through Friday from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm; there are three 2-week sessions. The maximum number of campers is 24 per session.

Lead place-based residential farm and nature activities on a daily basis with campers, ages 8 to 13.
Provide a nurturing, safe and responsive environment to campers, parents, CITs, guests and other staff members.
Help to ensure the smooth operations of the daily needs of the camp by being flexible and attentive to details.
Support Camp Manager and Nurse with upholding all camp protocols
Support fellow counselors in creating a strong group dynamic and sustainable schedule for all
Support Campers with any behavioral, health, emotional or learning issues
Experience working with children ages 8 to 13 in an outdoor setting and leading hands-on activities
A good work ethic with an ability to be flexible and work as a team member with all age groups.
Strong time management, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to demonstrate the attributes of a positive role model for our campers.
Ability to respect and celebrate the differences in people from many different backgrounds
Practical knowledge of working at a camp, farming, animal care, cooking, gardening, and interest in Waldorf education is a plus
A personal passion, energy and drive to enthusiastically work with children
The ability to lift and carry 50 lbs
There is a mandatory one week training for camp. The start date of the training is June 24, 2019. The dates of the camp are July 1 to August 9, 2019. After camp ends there are additional hours required for clean-up. This timing will be discussed during the interview process. The salary range for KCC counselors are $1,500 to $2,000 dependent on experience. There is limited housing available for the right candidate. All meals while working will be provided.
