Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Townsend, Tennessee
We seek a dynamic, enthusiastic, energetic individual with exceptional ideas, vision, and people skills to join our team. They must bring experience, expertise, and love of field research and science education. They will work with Tremont faculty, national park personnel, classroom teachers, volunteers, and researchers to strengthen science literacy and engagement in our programs in creative and effective ways. Must have a keen interest in, and aptitude for, Natural History and placed-based experiential education. This is a full-time year-round position.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to improve people’s’ lives through love of natural world with a caring team of educators in Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
The ideal candidate must have a Bachelor’s, preferably Master’s Degree, in the biological sciences or a related field with minimum 2 years experience in both research and science education. Trained Wilderness First Responder. Demonstrated ability to plan and implement science oriented education programs. Ability to work with a variety of people and to build support of partners and volunteers. Effective communicator with excellent writing skills. Confidence in applying field research procedures/protocols and ability to oversee research projects. Bird banding and grant writing experience desirable.
Salary & Benefits: Commensurate with experience. Housing not provided. Health, dental & EAP insurance, 6% retirement match and generous paid time off.
