The Dickinson College Farm is an 80+ acre educational production farm located in Cumberland County. The farm raises certified organic produce and grass-fed meat for campus and community consumption, in addition to serving as a resource for academic and agricultural training interests.
The Packing House Coordinator (PHC) is an 11-month (February–December) farm-based position that oversees the daily needs and activities of the College Farm’s produce handling, washing, packaging and distribution. This, in addition to managing the farm’s value-added product line, including canning, freezing, and making prepared foods for sale at established markets.
The PHC position requires keen organizational and time management skills, in addition to a strong work ethic and teamwork mentality.
Successful applicants will have experience in physically engaging work, an aptitude for maintaining high quality standards plus a sincere interest in the work of the College Farm. Candidates must be in good physical condition, able to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly without risk of injury, and able to work on their feet for the bulk of the day.
The PHC will work regularly with students, volunteers, and staff on projects relating to produce handling, washing, packaging, and processing. Frequent oversight and enforcement of food safety guidelines is required. Successful applicants will have demonstrated experience managing others and leadership skills.
