Tin Mountain Conservation Center is a non-profit organization providing environmental programs that foster greater awareness and understanding of the natural environment for school children, adults, and families. We are seeking an intern beginning mid-October for our Resident Bird Study.
The Resident Bird Study focuses on examining the annual cycle for black-capped chickadees, red-breasted nuthatches, white-breasted nuthatches, and tufted titmice. The study involves banding birds/nestlings, re-sighting birds, and weekly point counts. Prior bird handling and experience with GIS/GPS and statistics would be helpful. Additionally there will be analysis of the seasonal movement and territory size in resident bird species. The project takes place on Tin Mountain’s 140-acre Rockwell Sanctuary.
The Resident Bird Study will begin mid-October and run through April 2018. Compensation is $1000/month plus housing.
