The Arete Project is an eight-week summer program for college-aged women modeled on the pedagogy of L.L Nunn and Deep Springs College. This educational experience is based on three pillars: interdisciplinary academics designed to enrich students' lives and thought; physical labor performed in service of the community; and student self-governance over the student body and the organization itself. Our mission is education towards its highest ends: the cultivation of wisdom, the living of a good life in thought and action, and selfless devotion to world and humanity.
The Seminar Chair at Arete will conduct a daily class for the 16-18 students participating in the 2018 Blue Ridge Session, which will take place from June 17th to August 11th, 2019 in North Carolina. We are seeking interdisciplinary courses, courses that give opportunities for student leadership and participation, and courses that involve both experience and experiment around the themes of experiential components of the program, site-specific content, or any of the “big questions” faced by young adults. More information about the position can be found on the program website, at http://areteproject.org/employment/.
