Do you enjoy discussing the past and present state of alpinism with climbers from around the world? Do you obsess about the accuracy of little-known facts?
Alpinist seeks qualified applicants for a temporary (3 month) Assistant Editor position for February 1 through April 30, 2019. The Assistant Editor will work with our Managing Editor while our Editor-in-Chief Katie Ives is on a sabbatical to finish a book.
Researching, reporting and fact-checking articles in print and online.
Working closely with contributors and staff to ensure both accuracy and originality in historical and investigative articles.
Writing, editing and proofreading copy for the print magazine and website as needed.
The ideal candidate will possess a BA or graduate degree in a humanities field, as well as experience in either journalism or academic research. Strong writing, research, editing and communicating skills are required. Applicants should be familiar with mountaineering history and literature, in addition to topics in the current climbing world. They should be able to thrive in a team-oriented, deadline-driven environment.
