About EarthWalk Vermont
EarthWalk Vermont, founded in 2005, is a non-profit community and nature-based education organization located on Goddard College Campus in Plainfield, Vermont. EarthWalk’s mission is to inspire and empower children, families, and communities to reconnect with and care for one another and the Earth. EarthWalk offers year-round education programs including: EarthWalk Village School, After-school programs, Summer Camps, Mentor Apprenticeship, and a growing Field Institute for adults. EarthWalk is an affiliate of the Wilderness Awareness School of Duval, Washington, which is a guiding partner in a network of over three hundred nature mentoring schools located in eight countries.
The Village School Mentor facilitates rich, authentic, hands-on learning experiences in nature-connection and community-building, guiding children towards healthy and meaningful lives and active community and land stewardship. Mentors guide and inspire each learner’s curiosity through: storytelling, thanksgiving, celebration, making crafts, art of questioning, singing songs, sharing naturalist knowledge, modeling the 3-cares (Caring for yourself, others, and the Earth) and various stewardship projects. EarthWalk Mentors work as a team to inspire one other to grow personally and professionally and to creatively and continuously improve the student experience.
